We’ve all been there… you’ve spent all week being “good”, haven’t snacked after your meals, and have been to the gym a few times. You’re feeling good about yourself… then bam! You get on the scales and to your horror you’ve gained 2lbs and now feel horrible about yourself! This is why you need to ditch the scales for good.
You think, why did I spend all week eating rabbit food and running on the treadmill to not lose any weight!? Therefore, those positive feelings you had about the week come crashing down. You think to yourself, well what’s the point!? Then, you decide to treat yourself to a takeaway pizza because all your hard work didn’t pay off anyway. Before you know it you’re feeling crap about yourself and tucking into a tub of ice cream thinking I might as well.
However, if you ditch the scales and focus on how you feel instead of the number on the scales, you will be more likely to stick to your healthy habits. Don’t allow a number on a scale to derail your progress, focus on making yourself feel good and the results will follow.
Remember
Constantly checking your weight on the scales harms your mental health, mood, confidence, and self-esteem. Even if you have a good week and lose a couple of pounds, if you slip a little and go on the scales, all your good work comes crashing down and your self-worth goes with it.
There’s nothing good to come from checking your weight frequently on the scales. You should base your physical and mental health on how you’re feeling and strive to live a healthier life. However, you need to stop putting stress and pressure on yourself.
If you’re not feeling confident or good about the way you look then it’s great to take steps towards making yourself healthier and happier. However, weighing yourself constantly isn’t going to aid you in this journey.
Eating healthier choices, exercising more, snacking less, and drinking more water are going to make you feel better about yourself. However, if you jump on the scales and have gained a little weight whilst practicing these positive habits then you’re more inclined to give in because you may feel you’re wasting your time.
You should only judge your physical health on how you feel about yourself. Think about how confident you feel in your skin and body, not on what you see on the scales. Ditch the scales today and see what a positive impact it has on your mental well-being.
30 Reasons to Ditch the Scales Today…

“You can’t rely on a single number from a bathroom scale to measure your progress.”– Unknown
Summary
It’s important to listen to your own body, it will tell you when you’re thirsty, hungry, tired, etc. As long as you’re taking steps towards living a healthy life then the number on the scales is irrelevant.
If you feel good about your progress then don’t let the scales determine your worth. Remember, there are so many factors that affect the number on the scales.
Moreover, checking your weight constantly is never going to help you achieve your goals. It is more likely to make you unmotivated and drained. Therefore, you should base your progress on how you feel not only in your body but also in your mind.
Ditch the scales today and start living a healthier and more positive life!
“The scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love.”– Steve Maraboli
