Holding on to your past mistakes and punishing yourself for them does nothing to change what has happened and only stops you from being happy and living in the present moment. It’s time for you to learn to forgive yourself for the things you’ve done wrong in the past and to move forward with your life.

We store energy in our bodies and replay negative situations over and over in our brains. There’s no point beating yourself up over something that’s happened or continuing to live in the past. You can’t change what has happened and you need to forgive yourself and let go of any negative emotions, in order to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Torturing yourself doesn’t make it any better or change what has happened. You need to accept that you’re only human and that mistakes help you to learn and grow as a person. No one can be perfect all the time and everyone slips up sometimes in life. Whatever you’re holding onto that you regret is pointless, and hurting yourself and holding onto negative emotions will not change the situation.

It’s important to remember that you aren’t your past or your mistakes, you are who you are today and that’s all you can control. Start focusing on the present and learn to be better each and every day, this will help you to improve your future and leave your past behind.

You only get to live once, stop living in regret from your past mistakes, learn to forgive yourself and move on with your life in a positive way. Start focusing on your present reality and what you want to create for the future.

Here are just a few ways that you can learn to forgive yourself and move on with your life…

  1. Write an apology letter for everything you’ve done wrong in the past or that you regret and either rip it up or have a burning ceremony
  2. Apologise to the people you’ve wronged or hurt in the past
  3. Journal about everything you want to let go of. Acknowledge everything and tell yourself that you’re moving on now and deserve to be happy
  4. Go to an energy healing treatment like reiki
  5. Practice meditation and living in the present
  6. Practice releasing techniques. Allow yourself to think of a situation you’re not proud of, feel all the feelings that come with it and ask yourself if you’d rather hold on to this feeling or be free? Then declare that you’re moving on and let it go
  7. Go to see a therapist if you can’t let go of your negative emotions by yourself
  8. Practice gratitude and remember all the things that you are grateful for in your life and the qualities you love about yourself, and focus your energy towards embracing them

It can take time to learn to forgive yourself but it’s vital in order to live a happy and fulfilled life. You can’t truly be happy if you’re holding on to past hurt, regret or anger towards yourself.

You deserve to be happy and to be free of your past mistakes, don’t be so hard on yourself and learn to forgive. You can’t change what has happened and it doesn’t help anyone if you punish yourself or think negatively towards yourself.

Everyone makes mistakes in life, you just need to learn from them, grow and move forward in a positive way.

The only thing that we can control is the here and now, the past has gone and we can’t change it. Start focusing on creating a positive life and becoming the person you’ve always wanted to be. Let go of your past mistakes and start creating the life you’ve always envisioned for yourself.
