People often lose sight of what they want out of their lives because they get caught up in everyday life and stress. However, making a list of your dreams and everything that you want to achieve; whether it’s now, in a few months, or a year, is crucial to live your dream life.
Additionally, to achieve your dreams, you need to clarify exactly what you want, plan how you’re going to get them, keep them present in your everyday life, hold yourself accountable, and act as though you already have everything you want.
Therefore, you may not be sure right now what you exactly want out of your life but here is a step-by-step guide and some powerful journaling questions that will get you started to unlocking your potential and fulfilling all of your dreams…
Decide What You Want in Your Life
While it may seem obvious that to reach your dreams and goals, you must know what you want, many people aren’t true to themselves. Instead, they simply adopt dreams they believe they should have based on other people’s lives and opinions.
Therefore, to begin, give yourself some time to sit down somewhere comfortable, that’s free of distractions and quiet. Grab your journal or a piece of paper and a pen. Firstly, focus on all the different areas of your life; fitness/body/image, health, mental health, relationships, career, etc, and what your dreams are for each of these area. Specifically, instead of thinking about what you should do or what would make other people happy, focus solely on what you actually want in order to live your dream life.

Make A Plan
Too often, we have a list of dreams and goals that we want to achieve, but life gets in the way, and they slip to the back of our minds because we’re stressed with work or facing dramas in our relationships. Before we know it, another year has gone by, and we’ve made no progress on our dreams.
Consequently, to live your dream life you need to have a plan of how you’re going to reach your goals. Furthermore, you cannot expect to just sit back, take no action, and wait for everything to come to you; you need to take action. You’ll be amazed at how little habit changes and small daily steps can add up to massive shifts in your life.
Ask Yourself…
- How can I progress toward my dreams today?
- What kind of person do I need to become to have these things?
- Which detrimental habits hinder my pursuit of my dreams?
- What am I afraid of? What is stopping me from taking action towards my goals?
- How can I find the time in my life to prioritise myself and my goals without making excuses?
Once you get to the root causes of why you’re not taking action towards reaching your goals and make a plan of how you’re going to change; then you will begin to see massive positive shifts towards your dreams, and you will enable yourself to live your dream life more quickly.
You May Answer These Questions With Things Like…
- Get up an hour earlier to work on my goals.
- Stop making excuses and blaming other people for my lack of action.
- Watch one less episode on TV and research how to set up an online business
- Become focused, disciplined, and confident in my abilities.
- Stop scrolling on my phone for hours.
- Make time for myself to pursue my dreams and live a life I truly love.
- Stop caring what other people think of me.
Make your plan of what you can do to get you closer to your dreams, give yourself daily, weekly, monthly, 6 monthly, and yearly goals and stick them up somewhere you can see them every day.
Hold Yourself Accountable
In order to live your dream life you must ensure that your dreams are at the forefront of your mind every day and that you set yourself time frames/deadlines to complete them. Don’t try and do everything at once and overwhelm yourself; start small and pick the easiest things that you can do first to get yourself on the right track.
Furthermore, check in with yourself and your dreams daily to see if your actions match the outcomes that you want in your life. For example, if you want to finally reach your dream body, have you been taking positive actions towards this goal or have you been eating unhealthily and not exercised in days?
Ask yourself every morning what you want to achieve that day, what you could have done better yesterday, and what you’re proud of yourself for doing. Hold yourself accountable, and make your goals visual so you can see them every day; either listed on a whiteboard to tick off or on a vision board and track your progress. The more you review your progress and read over your dreams; the more likely you are to achieve them.
Act As if You Already Have All of Your Dreams
The quickest way to live your dream life and reach your big goals is to act as if you already have everything you want. When your thoughts and actions mirror what you want in life, then you will attract everything into your life much faster.
Moreover, you cannot love your body and be confident if you talk negatively about yourself and eat unhealthily; you cannot be wealthy if you’re constantly worrying about money and checking your bank balance. If you want to reach your dreams you need to embody them and know that you deserve to have everything you want in life.
So, speak kindly to yourself, walk confidently, learn to not care about what other people think of you, and don’t be afraid to fail sometimes because every successful person knows their worth, and abilities and sees failures as a way to get closer to what they want. Finding out what you’re passionate about and what you want to attract into your life is empowering.
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”– Walt Disney
Summary
Set yourself goals around what lights you up and inspires you the most and start embodying the traits of someone who already has everything you want. Remember to focus on what you want out of your life and not what you think you should do or want.
Ultimately, we only live once and you should be able to live your dream life, instead of playing small because you are scared about what other people will say. Start working towards your big goals and dreams and watch your life transform into everything you’ve ever wanted.
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”– Earl Nightingale
