To get where you want to be in life and to become who you’ve always wanted to be you first need to know exactly what you want. As well as, how you want to feel, how you want to act, and how you’re going to get there.
Taking time to step back and evaluate your life and current situation, will enable you to reconnect with your truest self. This is crucial for your self-development journey and finally embodying the traits you’ve always wanted.
We often become so engrossed in our present life circumstances that we occasionally lose sight of our true essence and our desires for ourselves and our lives. Regardless of our current situation and how distant that ideal may seem, we have the power to become whoever we wish to be.
To assist you in this journey, I’ve created some powerful journaling questions for you to figure out who you want to be and how you’re going to obtain all the qualities you desire.
So, find yourself a comfortable spot where you won’t be distracted. Sit down with your journal or a piece of paper and a pen, dedicating approximately 30 minutes to answering the following questions. Ensure honest and heartfelt responses. This exercise will help you to become who you’ve always wanted to be and unlock your full potential in life.
Who Do I Admire?
Consider the people that you admire in your life; they could be family members, friends, colleagues, or celebrities. Ensure that they are uplifting and possess positive traits in their personality. These may include career success, physical health, confidence, self-control, ambition, self-esteem, or openness.
Next, write down whoever comes to mind that embody these qualities that you desire to have yourself.
What Do I Like About Them and Why?
Consider the traits these people possess that you appreciate and admire. Write down anything that comes to mind.
Perhaps they always remain true to themselves and aren’t concerned with other people’s opinions. Or maybe they started from humble beginnings and created a profitable and successful business. It could be that they exude kindness and generosity, etc.
Next, reflect on why you admire these qualities in them. You might note reasons such as their commitment to living life to the fullest, their ability to manage emotions effectively, their pursuit of dreams, and they get to spend their days doing what they love, etc.
In A Perfect World, Who Would I Be?
To embark on your journey towards living your envisioned future and embodying your ideal self, you must clarify the person you aspire to become. You may discover that many of the qualities and traits you’ve identified overlap with those listed in questions 1 and 2.
Envision yourself and your life as if all your desires were attainable, and there were no obstacles in your way. Who would you become?
List aspects related to your career, relationships, goals, and how you would allocate your time.

Think expansively and boldly; don’t hesitate to dream big!

How Would I Interact with Others?
Next, envision your future self when you have become who you’ve always wanted to be. Think about how you would interact with people; would you be open, kind, understanding, loyal, loving, caring, and supportive?
Furthermore, contemplate how you would want your relationships with people to be?

Moreover, envision yourself as having all the qualities you want and feel the emotions that you would feel and what you would think about yourself.
What Can I Do Today to Be This Person?
Next, think about what things you can do to be more like the version of yourself you want to become.
Think about all the things you’ve written down, how you want to feel and act, and then think of ways that you can start embodying those things today.
For instance, you may write things like; think before I react to things, let go of past resentments, practice being more confident, stop overthinking and stressing. Or, start my online business, set boundaries with people who make me feel bad, etc.
What New Habits Can I Adopt?

Or, spending less time watching TV and writing instead, taking up cycling again, stop comparing myself to others, attending a confidence seminar, etc.
What Do I Need to Let Go of From My Life?
Finally, think about anything that doesn’t make you feel good or doesn’t support you on your mission to be the best version of yourself who has all the qualities you desire. To become who you’ve always wanted, you need to leave behind the old self, negative traits and negative influences.
