It’s easy to concentrate on our flaws, what we’re not good at, or what we don’t have. We compare ourselves to others and wish that we could be smarter, funnier, skinnier, more successful, or more outgoing. However, it’s depressing to compare yourself to others. The truth is you’ll never be them but you need to see that you have amazing and different qualities of your own. Being you is your power and what makes you unique. When you focus on your strengths you change your mindset to be more powerful, positive and successful.
Everyone has different strengths and qualities and that’s what makes us who we are and life more interesting. Therefore, focusing on your strengths and what you’re good at is the key to lasting happiness and success. Instead of focusing on what you can’t do and what you don’t have, focus on what you’re good at. What can you do with those qualities and your unique personality? We all have something different to offer this world and that’s what makes life fun. Therefore, don’t be afraid to be different and to be the truest version of yourself.
Focus on Your Strengths
Find what makes you feel happy and do and be that without thinking about what other people may think of you. Stop beating yourself up if you’re not good at something, focus on what you are good at, and build and grow from there. If you find what you’re good at and build on it, then that’s your power and your true calling in life. Moreover, when you focus on your strengths and build on them you will succeed.
You can’t try and force yourself to be someone or do something you’re not. However, you can grow and adapt but you have to stay true to yourself and learn to accept and love yourself for who you are, warts and all.
Learn to focus on your strengths and play to them. Use what you’re good at and your passions to fuel your path in life and your career. Additionally, do what you’re good at and what suits you and your personality. Furthermore, don’t listen to what other people or society tell you is right for you. Do the things that compliment your true self and don’t apologise for being you. Instead, embrace your personality and traits and use them to grow and succeed in your life.
How to Focus on Your Strengths
It’s important to remember that you don’t have to be good at everything, no one is. Stop focusing on what you can’t do and what you don’t have. Just focus on yourself and stop trying to please everyone and be something that’s not true to yourself.
You’ll feel unfulfilled if you’re not being your authentic self. If you’re kind and caring, do things that compliment that because that’s what makes you feel good. Moreover, don’t try and be tough at work because that’s not being true to you. If you’re driven and outspoken, share these qualities with the world, and don’t try to play small because you’re scared of being judged.
Everyone is unique and focusing on your own personal strengths will help to live your life to the fullest and to be the most happy and authentic version of yourself possible. Furthermore, life’s too short to spend time wishing you were someone else or had what someone else has; be grateful for your life and yourself. Start embracing your strengths and play to them, instead of trying to change yourself into something you’re not built for.
Journal Prompts to Discover Your Strengths
A great way of learning what your strengths are and to start focusing on them is to journal. It can enable you to figure out what sparks your interest and who the truest version of yourself is.
Grab yourself a pen and a piece of paper or your journal and start answering questions like:
- What am I good at?
- What makes me happy?
- How do I feel about myself?
- What are my best qualities?
- How would I describe myself?
- What traits do I have?
- What makes me feel excited?
- Which job would I do if I had all the money in the world?
- What do I wish I had more time for?
- What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?
Take the time to really think about these questions. Focus on what drives you, who you are at your core, and what makes you happy. This will help you to focus on your strengths.
“Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Focus on your character, not your reputation. Focus on your blessings, not your misfortunes.”– Roy T. Bennett
