We all have long lists of goals and dreams that we want to achieve in our lives. However, the sad truth is that most people never reach their full potential. It’s not because they can’t reach their goals but because they aren’t committed enough to achieve them. Therefore, to achieve your goals you must commit to them fully and not just be interested in achieving them.
We get comfortable in our everyday mundane lives and, as a result, lose focus on what’s truly important to us at our core. We often make the mistake of putting things off and thinking we have enough time. However, before we know it, years have passed and we haven’t reached our goals.
Moreover, it’s not enough to be interested in reaching a goal or to even say that you want something. Instead, you have to be committed to your goals every day to achieve them.
To begin with, start affirming what you desire every day by saying to yourself; “I am committed to my goals!” and truly believe it with all of yourself. Additionally, you need to remember that you only live once, and therefore, you shouldn’t let your one shot at life go to waste because you were too scared or lazy to reach your full potential.
Achieve Your Goals Now
Stop making excuses as to why you haven’t achieved your goals yet. The truth is, if you really want something enough you will make it happen, regardless of your current circumstances and reality.
The difference between successful people who reach their goals and unsuccessful people who don’t is that successful people will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. For instance, they will get up earlier, study harder, make sacrifices with their spare time etc. Moreover, they don’t have to be any more talented than you, they just work harder than you every day to improve themselves, their knowledge, behaviours and beliefs to reach their full potential.
You can’t use excuses about your upbringing, income, intelligence etc to hold you back and stop you from reaching your goals. After all, some people have less than what you have now and have achieved everything you want. Therefore, it’s time to stop procrastinating and, instead, start getting serious about what you want from your life.
Journaling Prompts to Achieve Your Goals
Ask yourself…
- Do I want this and am I going to do what it takes to make it happen?
- Why do I want this?
- Am I interested or committed to achieving my goals?
- Why am I committed to creating my dream life?
- How do I want my life to look?
- How do I want to feel about myself and my life?
- What steps can I take daily to help me to reach my goals?
- What new habits do I need to embody?
- Do I want to look back at my life and think what if?
- What are my top 5 goals I want to achieve this year and how do I plan to fulfil them?
- What time-wasting things can I remove from my life to reach my dreams?
- How will I feel if I never reach my goals?
- Why am I holding myself from pursuing my dream life?
- What limiting beliefs do I need to let go of?
- If other people can have what I want, why not me?
It’s not enough to think about wanting something in your life. You have to decide you truly want it and take action towards reaching your goals.
You need to commit to your goals every day and not just dream about them. Furthermore, you can’t just want something and expect it to magically appear in your life. Instead, your energy and actions have to mirror what you want first before it becomes a reality for you.
“Life is short. You better get out there and do what you want to do while you can.”– Tony Gonzalez
Summary
Committing to yourself and your goals will help you to reach them a lot faster. Affirming to yourself throughout your day, “I am committed to my goals!”, will help you to remember your why. You need to take action and work towards becoming the person who possesses the qualities and actions of the type of person who would achieve those things.
When you are committed to your goals you won’t let anything stand in your way. Thinking about something and deciding you’re going to get it are two separate things with completely different outcomes.
Saying “I am committed to my goals!” throughout your day will programme your brain to focus on achieving your goals. Therefore, you will start to upgrade your knowledge, actions, beliefs, thoughts, the way you talk to yourself etc to reach your dreams.
