Brussels Sprout: Crispy and Spicy

Crispy, hot and spicy Brussels sprout with chillies and spring onions.

Ingredients
  

  • 300g Brussels sprout (halved)

Batter

  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp Franks hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup Plain flour
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic granules
  • 1/2 tsp Onion granules
  • 1 cup Golden breadcrumbs

To Serve

  • 1/2 cup Franks hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Dried parsley
  • 2 Spring onions (chopped)
  • 1 Red chilli (sliced)
  • Rice (to serve)

Instructions
 

  • Add the Brussels sprouts to a small pan of boiling water. Bring to the boil and then simmer on medium-high for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the batter for the sprouts. Add the milk, rice wine vinegar, hot sauce, plain flour, corn flour, garlic granules, and onion granules to a large mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and whisk until well combined, creating a smooth batter. In another large mixing bowl add the breadcrumbs.
  • Add each Brussels sprout to the batter and toss until well-coated. Add to the breadcrumbs and ensure they are fully covered with the breadcrumb coating. Heat the air fryer to 180 and cook the sprouts for 10 minutes, tossing frequently.
  • In another bowl add the Franks hot sauce, parsley, and salt and pepper to taste. Toss the fried Brussels sprouts in the sauce until well coated. Add to a serving bowl with rice, top with spring onions and fresh chillies, and enjoy.
