Spicy chilli beef loaded fries, topped with cheese, onion, spring onion, fresh chillies and American mustard.
Ingredients
Fries
- 500ml Sunflower oil
- 500g Potatoes (cut into fries)
Chilli
- 1 tbsp Sunflower oil
- 250g Lean mince
- 1/4 Onion (diced)
- 1 Garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp Hot chilli powder
- 1/2 tbsp Cayenne pepper
- 200g Chopped tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Tomato puree
- 150ml Beef stock
- 1 tbsp Worcester sauce
- 1 tbsp Red wine vinegar
Garnish
- 1/4 Onion (diced)
- 4 Spring onion (chopped)
- 1 Red chilli (sliced)
- 1 Green Chilli (sliced)
- 150g Grated cheese (I used red Leicester)
- Parsley (to liking)
- American mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Heat 500ml oil in a large sauce pan to medium heat for around 8-10 minutes (to preheat before adding the fries). Meanwhile, heat 1 tbsp oil in large pan. Add the onion and garlic and fry for 2-3 minutes. Add the mince and cook for a further 2-4 minutes until browned.
- Add the chilli powder and cayenne pepper and cook for 1 minute before adding the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, beef stock, worcester sauce and red wine vinegar, and bring to a boil. Meanwhile, add the fries to the pan of oil and cook for 15-17 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Reduce the chilli to medium heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until thickened, stirring often. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Preheat grill to medium.
- Remove the fries from the oil and place on kitchen paper to remove any excess oil. Season with salt to taste.
- To serve place the fries in a large bowl and cover with the chilli beef and then the grated cheese. Place under the grill for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted. Add the onions, spring onions, red chilli, green chilli, parsley and American mustard, and enjoy.
