gratitude

It’s easy to get caught up in the stresses of our everyday lives. You’re having a hard time at work or you’ve fallen out with your best friend. There are family dramas and your partner’s being lazy and not helping out around the house. Even though, he knows you’re stressed with everything else, and you feel like everything and everyone is against you. It can be hard to practice gratitude during these times. However, if you dig deep there is always something positive to focus on.

If you step back and look at things in a different light you will see just how lucky you are. It will enable you to be more grateful for how good your life actually is. Remember, there is always something good to come out of every day, even if you’ve had a terrible day. You can always find gratitude if you look for it. When you sit back and reflect on your day, you can always find something good that happened.

Get in the mindset of noticing the little things in life that make you happy and that you sometimes take for granted. This is a great way of starting to live a more positive and happy life.

Appreciate and be mindful of things like having food to eat, a place to sleep, a job, your health etc. They may seem like little things; however, they are actually massive. Most of what we take for granted every day, someone else is praying for.

Remember to start finding the good in your day. You may have finished those invoices you’ve been working on, or got the highest score on a game you’ve been playing. Or, you could have had a nice meal out with your partner or friends. You may have managed to find time for yourself and had a relaxing bath etc. No matter how big or small there is always something good even on the worst days.

Expand Your Gratitude

Regardless of how stressed or down you may be feeling, you are a lot luckier than you think. Your life isn’t as bad as you may think and there is always something to be grateful for. There are so many people in the world who would love to have what we have. Our health, money and means that we have that we take for granted most days. Practicing daily gratitude will help you to see that you are far luckier than you may think.

We have the ability to change things that we don’t like in our lives. We are privileged enough to have somewhere to live, food to eat and an income. Remember, a lot of people aren’t so lucky.

If you step back and look at the bigger picture you will realise that our everyday problems aren’t so big. We spend too much time wrapped up in things that aren’t that important in the grand scheme of things.

Therefore, start noticing the little things in your life which are good. This will help you to notice a shift in your attitude and your mood. Being grateful for what you have makes you feel good about yourself and the people around you.

You may dislike your job and it might be stressing you out. However, if you look objectively at your life, at least you have a job to pay your bills. You can put food on the table and are able to spend money on the things you want to do. You can always work towards changing the things in your life that aren’t making you happy. However, being grateful for what you have currently will help you to see that things could be a lot worse. Remember, you are lucky even if you don’t always see it.

Make Yourself Happier and Increase Your Gratitude

Being able to change your mindset to a positive and grateful one is one of the best tools you can possess to live a healthy and happy life. Seeing the good in your life and the things that happen to you is key to living a more positive and appreciative life.

Training your brain to think in a more positive way alters your mindset and this changes your mood and your behaviour for the good. If you constantly see the bad in everything, this makes you feel down and lethargic all the time. Therefore, even little things that happen to you, seem like a bigger deal than they actually are.

Accept that not every day is going to be perfect and things will get in your way. However, if you find some good in your day regardless, then you will see a shift in your energy, relationships and yourself because you will be in a better mental state.

Start Seeing the Bigger Picture

Once you start finding the good in your day it will help you to appreciate things more in your life. Therefore, you will realise how lucky you actually are and how insignificant certain things are that you’ve been worrying or stressing about in the grand scheme of things. Practicing gratitude will help you to step back and look more objectively at your life.

It’s easy to get caught up emotionally in everyday stresses, dramas and annoyances but if you step away from the situation and appreciate what you have then you will begin to notice that a lot of these issues are irrelevant. There are far bigger and worse problems in the world. So, being grateful for what we have and finding good in everyday can help us to see that our problems are actually smaller than we think.

Having good health, enough money, family, friends, a job etc are everyday things that we forget are privileges and not everyone has. It’s easy to take these things for granted, but if you start to see life through a more positive and grateful lens, you will notice that the little things in life are important. Practicing daily gratitude will enable you to be more mindful of the positive things in your life and how blessed you are to have them.
