How to Make Crispy Chinese Chicken at Home

Ingredients
  

Chicken Marinade

  • 2 Chicken breasts (cut into small strips)
  • 2 tbsp Light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp Garlic granules
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Honey

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Light soy sasuce
  • 1 tbsp Dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • Lemon juice (dash)

Ingredients

  • 100ml Vegetable oil
  • 1 Egg white
  • 2 cups Corn flour
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1/2 Red pepper (sliced)
  • 1/2 Red onion (sliced)
  • 4 Spring onions (cut into strips)
  • 4 Garlic cloves (crushed)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Chilli flakes

Instructions
 

  • Add the strips of chicken breast and all the marinade ingredients – light soy sauce, garlic granules, sesame oil and honey into a bowl and mix until well combined. Set aside.
  • Next, heat the vegetable oil to medium-high in a large pan. Then, make the sauce by combining the soy sauces, honey and lemon juice in a small bowl. Season with pepper to taste and mix until well combined. Set aside.
  • Then, add the egg white to the chicken bowl and mix until combined. Place the corn flour in a large bowl and toss each chicken strip in the flour until fully coated.
  • Add the chicken in two batches to the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes each side until crispy and cooked through. Set aside while you cook the second batch.
  • Heat the olive oil to high in a large frying pan or wok. Add the red pepper, red onion, spring onions, and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes stirring frequently, then, add the crispy chicken and cook for a further minute. Add the sauce and a mix until well combined. Cook for a further 2 minutes stirring frequently. Serve and top with sesame seeds and chilli flakes to your liking and enjoy.
