How to Make Crispy Chinese Chicken at Home
Ingredients
Chicken Marinade
- 2 Chicken breasts (cut into small strips)
- 2 tbsp Light soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Garlic granules
- 1 tsp Sesame oil
- 1 tbsp Honey
Sauce
- 3 tbsp Light soy sasuce
- 1 tbsp Dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Honey
- Lemon juice (dash)
Ingredients
- 100ml Vegetable oil
- 1 Egg white
- 2 cups Corn flour
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1/2 Red pepper (sliced)
- 1/2 Red onion (sliced)
- 4 Spring onions (cut into strips)
- 4 Garlic cloves (crushed)
- Sesame seeds
- Chilli flakes
Instructions
- Add the strips of chicken breast and all the marinade ingredients – light soy sauce, garlic granules, sesame oil and honey into a bowl and mix until well combined. Set aside.
- Next, heat the vegetable oil to medium-high in a large pan. Then, make the sauce by combining the soy sauces, honey and lemon juice in a small bowl. Season with pepper to taste and mix until well combined. Set aside.
- Then, add the egg white to the chicken bowl and mix until combined. Place the corn flour in a large bowl and toss each chicken strip in the flour until fully coated.
- Add the chicken in two batches to the oil and fry for 2-3 minutes each side until crispy and cooked through. Set aside while you cook the second batch.
- Heat the olive oil to high in a large frying pan or wok. Add the red pepper, red onion, spring onions, and garlic. Cook for 2 minutes stirring frequently, then, add the crispy chicken and cook for a further minute. Add the sauce and a mix until well combined. Cook for a further 2 minutes stirring frequently. Serve and top with sesame seeds and chilli flakes to your liking and enjoy.
