How to Make Perfect Churros at Home
Homemade churros served with Nutella and dusted with sugar.
Ingredients
- 50g Butter (melted)
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 250g Plain flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 litre Sunflower oil
- 100g Caster sugar
- 200g Nutella
Instructions
- Boil your kettle and add 300ml of boiling water into a jug and add the butter and vanilla extract.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift the flour and baking powder and add a pinch of salt. Create a well in the centre and pour the boiling water mixture into it. Quickly beat the flour with a wooden spoon until smooth. Leave to rest for 10 minutes.
- Add the oil to a large saucepan and heat to medium-high. Then, add the dough to a piping bag and pipe 2-3 strips into the hot oil by cutting the end of the dough strip with scissors. Fry until golden brown and crispy. Remove from the oil and place onto kitchen paper. Repeat for the rest of the dough.
- Add the sugar to a plate and roll the churros in the sugar until well coated. (You can add cinnamon to the sugar if you like.) Warm the Nutella in a small bowl in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, serve and enjoy.
