Journaling is a powerful and successful way of figuring out what you want from life and how to get it. Following journal prompts that make you dig deeper into your subconscious and give you clarity on areas you want to develop and improve in your life, gives you back control and helps to clear your mind. You can use journaling for growth and mental clarity for all aspects of your life that you want to improve.
It’s easy to give ourselves several different goals we want to achieve. However, when you don’t define them and work out a plan of how you’re going to obtain these goals, then more often than not they are forgotten and not acted upon.
Using specific journaling questions, you will be able to have clarity, focus, and motivation, by visualising exactly what you want and setting goals of how you’re going to get there.
I will be doing journal prompt questions for different areas and goals but today I want you to focus on what you want in life and how you’re going to get it.
Remember, it’s important to appreciate yourself as you are but to pick areas you want to work on positively, without putting yourself or your capabilities down.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit where you won’t be interrupted. Put your phone away, grab a pen and your journal/piece of paper, and allow yourself at least 20-30 minutes to answer these 5 questions.
Let anything that comes to your mind out onto the paper, don’t think too much about whether it’s relevant or too small, just let the words flow out of you and onto the paper.
What Do I Want in Life?
Simply write down anything that comes to mind, it could be words or specific goals. Don’t be scared to think and aim big either!
It could be something like being happy with my body, having my own business, better relationships, a holiday home, confidence, happiness, etc.
What Emotions Do I Want to Feel Daily?
Envision your most happy and productive self. What feelings do you want to embody every day? What do you want more of in your life?
It could be emotions like confidence, happiness, motivation, content, etc.
You may want to be more open, more adventurous, live in the moment more, etc.
What Do I need to Do to Experience These Things and Live this Way?
Think of the best version of yourself, what would you do daily and in general to live the life that you want?
You may write things like waking up early, working out, and eating healthy meals. As well as, getting out of your comfort zone and not wasting time scrolling on your phone. You could try journaling every morning, making a daily checklist, etc.
Who Do I Need to Become to Have These Things? What Beliefs Do I Need to Embody to Be This Person Who Has Everything They Want?
It’s important not to just plan what you need to do to achieve your goals, but to also envision yourself as your best self and act as this person daily.
You can manifest what you want out of life and who you want to become. You just need to embody these traits and act as if you already have everything you want in life.
Your list may look like I need to become a person who is… disciplined, self-assured, and focused. Who believes they can have everything they want in life, and who takes care of themselves. Additionally, who does things that make them feel good about themselves. As well as, does things that gets them closer to their goals daily, etc.
What Does a Day in the Life of the Version of Me That Has These Things Look Like?
To get what we want out of life we need to believe that we can have everything that we want. Furthermore, we need to envision our future and best self.
Think about what the best version of you would do in a day. When would you wake up? What would you do? How would you feel? How would you finish your day?
This will help you to plan and clarify the things that you need to do daily to reach your goals and give you more focus on achieving them.
You could write things like waking up an hour earlier, listening to a podcast, working out, or going for a walk. Meditating, having a healthy lunch, working on your online business, doing an online course in web design, etc.

Summary
These journaling for growth prompts will not only help you figure out what you want out of life but also guide you in planning how you’re going to get it. Additionally, they will encourage you to delve deep into your thoughts and uncover your true desires for your life.
If you have countless big goals that you want to achieve; try focusing on just 3 at a time. Because when you’re trying to work on too many areas at once, you become less focused and overwhelmed.
Focusing on a few things that you want to improve is far better for setting goals that you can stick to achieve.
Don’t wait until you are the person who has everything. Remember, you need to envision their qualities now and embody them in your daily life.
Make sure that you keep your goals and plan visible. That way you will be reminded every day of what you truly want and how to get there. If you put it out of sight then you’re far more likely to forget to act on your goals.
We are what we do, feel, and attract. Therefore, you can have and do everything you want in life if you have a clear vision and believe in yourself.
“You can have many great ideas in your head, but what makes the difference is the action. Without action upon an idea, there will be no manifestation, no results, and no reward.”– Don Miguel Ruiz
