We live in a world where we get validation and confidence from the amount of social media likes we get on our posts. But the fact is, this is fake validation and empty confidence. If you base your self-worth on the number of likes you get, then you will never truly be happy in yourself.
If you’re allowing other people to determine how you feel about yourself and your self-worth, then this is a toxic and negative outlook to have in your life.
It’s time to stop trying to impress people on social media and basing your worth on the amount of social media likes you get. Stop trying to show your ex that you’re happy and you’ve moved on (even though you’re hurting inside). Similarly, it’s time to stop trying to out-do your friends likes or your own likes on your newest selfie.
What does the number of likes on a post actually mean in real life!? If you’re unhappy with yourself and your life, then no amount of likes is going to make you happy. Therefore, you need to stop trying to impress other people. Start working on making yourself genuinely happy and not just “happy” for your social media feed.

How to Gain Validation from Yourself and Not Social Media Likes
Spend the time that you’d normally waste on social media trying to get likes from others and do things to make you like yourself. Stop depending on social media likes from other people to make you happy because this is empty happiness. What happens once the initial buzz from getting likes on your post goes? You are still left feeling empty because you’re not truly happy in yourself.
The time you spend scrolling or posting on social media could be used to work on yourself. You can learn to improve your relationship with yourself, grow your confidence and improve your self-esteem. When you have inner confidence you don’t need validation from others. You will make yourself feel proud and happy with who you are, despite other people’s opinions.
The only validation you need in life is from yourself. Remember that you need to start being your biggest supporter and have your own back. It’s time to start loving yourself for who you truly are on the inside. Focus your time and energy on working on yourself. You are your only competition in life and as long as you are growing, then you are winning in life. Start getting more likes from yourself each day and watch your self-esteem and happiness levels skyrocket over time.
As long as you’re happy with yourself and what you’re doing with your life, why do you feel like you need validation from others? Seek validation only from yourself and watch how your mindset and confidence begin to switch over time. Your priorities will change to gaining self-worth and confidence from within. Instead, of from the amount of social media likes you get on your newest post.
Remember
It’s important to remember that social media isn’t real life. People only post their highlights and never show the darker side of themselves and their lives. No one is perfect and you shouldn’t need likes from other people to make you feel good about yourself. When you put your phone down, you’re just left with yourself and your life. So, start creating happiness and fulfillment in your real life.
What does it matter if you didn’t get any likes on your newest post? As long as you love yourself, and your life and you have good people around you, that’s all that truly matters in life.
If you post something and judge your self-worth on how many likes you get, this can be so damaging to your self-esteem, confidence, and mental health. When you base your self-confidence on what other people think of you, then you lose all of your power. It strips you of your self-esteem because you allow their judgement to define your self-worth.
“You wouldn’t worry so much about what others think of you if you realised how seldom they do.”– Eleanor Roosevelt
