Write Down Your Thoughts

If you write down your thoughts before going to bed you will notice a massive shift in your mindset and your ability to switch off. You need to unwind before bed and let go of your stresses. This will enable you to have a good night’s sleep so you can tackle your to-do list tomorrow refreshed.

We’ve all been there, you’re lying in bed exhausted, trying to sleep but for some reason, your mind won’t shut off and you can’t stop thinking. Did I lock the door, I’ve got to be up early tomorrow, I’ve got to finish those invoices. I should call my family, do they think I don’t care about them? I need to pick up chicken to make dinner tomorrow, I’m never going to find love… and your mind just won’t switch off!

If you don’t get your thoughts out you will start getting more and more stressed as time goes on. Then, you start beginning to count how much sleep you will get if you fall asleep now. This makes you even more frustrated and you can’t switch off. It’s hard to switch off sometimes because you’re thinking of your day, what you need to do tomorrow and everything else that you’re stressing over or anxious about.

Getting everything out of your mind and onto paper or the notes section of your phone will help you to let go of everything that is playing on your mind. Ultimately, you know that you have acknowledged them, and you won’t forget them. They are safely written down and you can tackle them tomorrow.
