I always thought I didn’t have the time to read daily. My to-do list is always so full, and I am always working or trying to fit in time to spend with my partner, family, and friends. However, the truth is you create time for what you want in your life. Your personal growth depends on what energy you put into yourself and your development.
When I started on my self-development journey and started reading self-help books, I loved the knowledge and change of mindset I could get from reading and learning from other people’s wisdom. Therefore, I started to wake up an hour earlier to fit in time for reading. Or, I would turn the television off 30 minutes before bedtime and read something that would help improve my mindset and life.
Reading just one chapter of a self-help book daily goes a long way to helping you on your self-improvement journey. It builds your happiness, confidence, and self-esteem levels. Furthermore, it helps you to reflect on yourself and your life. It encourages you to start questioning what you want from your life. Futhermore, it allows you to see how you can become the best version of yourself possible.
Read for Personal Growth
Reading often and reading widely will open you up to new ways of thinking and new ideas. Furthermore, it sparks more creative and positive energy into your life. You can lose yourself in an uplifting fiction book filled with excitement, love, and joy. Or, you can start working on improving yourself from your mind, body, and soul with the teachings of good self-development books. Whatever you read it enables you to enhance your personal growth in different ways.
The books that you are drawn to or that spark your interest when someone exposes you to them are calling to you for a reason. Therefore, start listening to the signs and read whatever piques your curiosity. You never know what new things you will learn and what paths they can lead you down. Remember, you are drawn to certain things in life for a specific reason. They are what ignite your passion inside of you. Futhermore, you never know what new hobbies, passions, ideas, or even new career paths they will help you to discover.
Remember
Reading often and widely helps to keep your brain active. Knowledge is power, and it’s important to never stop learning and growing in life. If you keep doing the same things daily and consuming the same content, then you will remain stagnant and stuck in your present reality.
However, when you open yourself up to new ways of thinking, it can change your whole outlook on your life. This can enable you to create a more positive mindset and view of the world.
Reading often and reading widely will give you more interesting things to talk about with others instead of giving in to talking about pointless drama or gossiping. You will have more interesting conversations, and people will find you to be a positive and complex person to associate with.
“Reading is important, because if you can read, you can learn anything about everything and everything about anything.”– Tomie dePaola
Summary
Creating even 30 minutes a day to read a chapter of an amazing book will give you quality time alone with yourself and your thoughts. It’s a great way of practicing self-care and taking time to relax and enjoy some much-needed time with yourself.
When you open yourself up to new genres or concepts in books, you are opening yourself up to a fountain of knowledge that can impact your life in countless positive ways. You never know what will spark a new and profound interest in your life if you’re always stuck doing the same things every day.
To create change in our lives, we need to expose ourselves to new ways of thinking. Therefore, reading widely will help you to discover new thoughts and outlooks on life. It will help you with your personal growth and development because you are experiencing new ways of thinking.
A few amazing self-development books that I have recently are: The Secret, The Success Principles, The Sedona Method and Discover Your Dharma. These are all books that I never would have even considered spending time reading a few years ago. However, they have opened up my mind and the way I see myself and the world.
When you open yourself up to reading new things, you open yourself up to a world of possibilities and knowledge. You improve your personal growth and deepen your understanding of yourself and the world around you.
