cooking healthy meals

You may feel like you’re too busy to make time for healthy eating or that it’s too expensive to cook from scratch but that’s not the case! You can make delicious dishes with minimal effort that are kind to your body, mindset, and purse. Cooking healthy meals will do wonders for your mind, body, and soul.

I have experimented with adapting regular recipes and the food I love to eat with healthier versions that anyone can master. You can find loads of delicious dishes on my recipe page. Furthermore, many of the dishes have instructions to make them vegan in a couple of easy steps.

Remember, eating healthy has a massive impact on your energy levels, overall health, and emotions/mood. I find that when I eat unhealthy ready meals, takeaways, and restaurant meals regularly, I am a lot more irritable, lethargic, moody, and unmotivated. Furthermore, I tend to feel bad about myself and life in general.

Remember

If you just eat one nutritious and healthy meal today you will begin to see the difference in yourself. I’m not suggesting that you need to constantly eat healthy 24/7. Also, I don’t believe in dieting at all. You shouldn’t restrict yourself to extremes for a quick fix to lose weight. It is not sustainable long-term, which means you’ll end up gaining the weight back when you eat normally again. However, making sure that you get a balance in your eating habits between the foods you love and the foods you need to eat to live a healthy and balanced life, is a lot simpler than you think.

If you love fast food and can’t justify switching to healthy eating right off the bat, then making fakeaways is a great way of eating the food you love but in a healthier way.

The benefits of eating fresh home-cooked meals are endless!

Cooking healthy meals can help improve your…

Mental Health

Start regularly eating meals that you have prepared yourself at home. This will enable you to avoid eating processed foods and reduce your sugar consumption. This means that you will have higher energy levels. Additionally, this helps to boost your mood and makes you feel happier and more motivated.

Cooking healthy meals for yourself makes you healthier and reduces the amount of processed food in your diet. This enables you to function better mentally and improves your sleep quality.

When I eat healthier, I always notice a massive positive change in my outlook on life. The things that I need to tackle seem a lot more doable and I’m far more upbeat.

As cliché as it sounds, you are what you eat. Therefore, if you eat healthy, you feel healthy and if you eat bad, you feel bad.

Eating healthier foods is also one of the most important factors in helping to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. Cooking healthy meals will make your body feel healthier and you’ll feel better about yourself. Your self-esteem increases the healthier you eat.

Overall Health

It goes without saying that healthy eating contributes massively to your body’s functionality. You need vitamins and minerals to ensure that your body is getting everything that it needs to stay healthy. Therefore, eating a variety of the right foods your body needs helps to reduce the risk of cancer, heart issues, strokes, and diabetes.

Eating more home-cooked healthy meals can also help massively with weight loss, as you have full control of what goes in your food. I always find that when I’ve been eating healthier choices, I have more motivation to be more active, as I’m a lot less lethargic and I feel better about myself. Subsequently, I have a more proactive approach to life and fitness.

Eating healthier is also amazing for your immune system and general health, as your body gets more of the fuel it needs to be able to help you avoid catching colds and other illnesses.

Bank Balance

There’s a common misconception that eating healthy and cooking healthy meals from scratch is expensive and hard to maintain but this isn’t the case. I get the argument that buying a burger from a fast-food chain is cheap. So, why spend money on a load of vegetables that aren’t as substantial and you have to spend time and energy on cooking?

Yes, on the surface buying the burger meal is going to fill you up quickly and cheaply. However, your body isn’t getting nutrients or anything beneficial from the processed food. Therefore, you’ll become hungrier faster and are more like to snack on even more processed foods.

The money that you spend on fresh fruit and vegetables actually goes a lot further. You can make several healthy and nutritious meals that will fill you up for longer. Therefore, you’ll be less likely to want snacks because your body will be satisfied with what it’s been offered.

There are lots of healthy and cheap recipes in the recipe section of this blog, which are quick to make and just as tasty as the takeaway food you’ve been used to, I promise!

Summary

When you start cooking healthy meals from scratch it’s so easy to adapt your normal diet and still eat the foods you love but in a healthier way. Making a few substitutions or adding a couple more healthier elements to your meals will have a massive impact on your overall health and well-being.
