A woman sat on top of a mountain surrounded by water with her arms up in the air because she knows you are responsible for your life and she makes the most of it.

When I first heard the quote “you are 100% responsible for your life”, I was in denial, and I was playing the victim in my life.

I wasn’t where I wanted to be. I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do for a living. Furthermore, I wasn’t happy with my body. I lacked self-confidence, and I’d had some pretty low points and bad experiences in my life.

I didn’t want to take ownership of the fact that every bad experience and feeling I had in the past was down to me. But then I realised if this is actually true and I am 100% responsible for my life, how empowering and motivating is that!?

That means I can change my present reality and my future. Furthermore, I’m in control of my destiny. So, this was a pivotal moment in my self-development journey. It changed my whole outlook on my past and my current circumstances.

You are Responsible for Your Life

Here’s how accepting the fact that I’m 100% responsible for my life changed my life…

Once you accept your past decisions and own them as your responsibility, you will begin to appreciate them, even if they were negative. You will finally be free of your victim mentality because they have made you who you are.

They helped to teach you, helped you to grow and got you to where you are today.  You have the power to change your future and create the life you’ve always wanted. You are responsible for your life, and you create whatever future you want for yourself.

How exciting is that thought!?

Take Accountability: You are Responsible for Your Life

Every experience you’ve had in life has led you to this point. So, every breakup, failure, illness, bad decision, period of depression, unfulfilling jobs and toxic relationships, etc have created your current reality.

You may say, “Well, I didn’t ask to be fired from my job”, or “It wasn’t my fault, my boyfriend controlled me”. “I don’t have the time to lose weight, I’m too busy working constantly”. However, if you’re 100% honest with yourself, you’ll realise you had the power to change these circumstances in some way to improve your state sooner. You are responsible for your life and how it currently looks.

You had the choice to see losing your job as an opportunity to follow that career path you’ve always wanted to try or set up your own business. Also, you had the choice to decide you deserved better and to end the relationship sooner. Or to stand up to your partner and be true to your needs. Furthermore, you had the choice to get up an hour earlier and work out before work. You could decide to take a healthy lunch to work, or to cut back on snacks or alcohol.

Remember

You have more control over your life than you think. So, when you take responsibility for your thoughts and actions, you will gain control over how you live and what you achieve.

See every setback in your life as a lesson and a chance to grow. Remember that everything has led you to this point, and you’re exactly where you need to be.

You always have the choice to change your circumstances for the better. Whether that’s your finances, health, relationships, career, etc you can control all areas of your life and your future success.

Summary: You Are 100% Responsible for Your Life

Knowing that you’re 100% responsible for your life is exciting and motivating.

Remember that you have everything you need inside you already to be who you want to be. You can do what you’ve always wanted. The fact that you are responsible for your life is empowering and liberating.

So, start taking ownership of your thoughts, actions, and emotions. Furthermore, start being the boss of your life and how your story is going to play out.

We only have one shot at life. So, why waste it playing the victim, playing small and not reaching your biggest dreams and desires!?

Take action, change your old negative habits and thought patterns. Do things you haven’t done before, get out of your comfort zone and create the life you truly want and deserve.

“If you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you’re eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want.”– Kevin Ngo
